Sagittarius New Moon, Nov. 29, 2016 at 4:18 AM PST

The New Moon at Sagittarius 8 degrees shoots its arrow, hitting the mark of what has truth and meaning for each of us. Sagittarius has to do with natural law, the laws of Mother Earth and how to live in integrity with Her. Human laws are not always in alignment with natural law and we are being shown the difference as well as what needs to prevail. The Water Protectors at Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota are showing us how to come back into that alignment. Mother Earth is calling us to protect and care for the water. Water is life, we cannot live without it for we are mostly water.

The planet Neptune is in a challenging aspect to this New Moon. Neptune, often referred to as the Great Cosmic Sea, reminds us that we are all one.  Science is now proving what indigenous people have always known, that we are all energy and in that form we are one with each other, with the animals, plants and trees and with Mother Earth. What happens to Her, happens to us.

Sagittarius is the archetype of the seeker, searching for the meaning of life. In its quest for truth, Sagittarius can become judgmental of others who do not believe the same way. Another meaning of the planet Neptune is the Divine Heart or Christ Consciousness, which brings compassion. This New Moon in aspect to Neptune is teaching us that it is through compassion, when we can feel the suffering others, that our hearts will open and heal the separations between us. Now more than ever we must trust in Creator and the love of the Divine as we move through many changes without fully understanding why.

The planet Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, is in Libra, the sign most seeking balance and justice. Jupiter is in a challenging aspect called a T-Square to Uranus, (the Great Awakener) in Aries and Pluto (the Unconscious) in Capricorn. To come back into balance, Jupiter brings an opportunity to awaken from our unconscious state. We here in the USA have had a huge wake-up call due to our presidential election. I heard a young woman say that democracy is not a spectator sport. We are all being called to stand for what is it important and true. We must all stand up and be counted now, no longer on the side lines expecting others to do it for us.

Pluto has to do with the cycles of life, death, transformation and rebirth. We are in a paradigm shift and the old ways of being and living are crumbling. We must build the new out of the shell of the old but old ways die hard. The ways that made “America great” came on the backs of the suffering of many. The way things used to be were never good for much of our population, yet many want to go back to the days of unkindness toward many of our fellow brothers and sisters, especially those perceived to be different. The collective shadow of this country is rising and we can no longer deny it. To heal the collective shadow, we must first look into our own hearts. The shadow in ourselves are those places where we carry unprocessed pain in the form of feelings such as grief, anger or disappointment. If they remain as shadow material, they unconsciously motivate us to protect ourselves and act out of fear. Unprocessed pain is frequently projected out onto others.

The Sabian Symbol for Sagittarius 8 degrees is: “Within the depths of the earth new elements are being formed: the alchemical fire both purifies and transforms the very substance of man’s inner life.” This is a time of purification, releasing all that is not authentically ourselves. The fire in the alchemical process often manifests as crisis for most of us do not make necessary changes if we are comfortable. As the fires heats us up, it is our connection with others that will heal and support us through this process.

My spiritual teacher said that the Mayan elders say the future is unknown, that we are creating it moment by moment with each choice we make. That is why it is so important that we remain conscious and don’t go back to sleep. We must consciously choose love not fear in every moment; not go back to old unconscious habits and ways of being. Staying conscious involves the battle that takes place inside our own hearts, between love and forgiveness vs. fear and hatred.  As we move forward in awareness, we need to ask ourselves, “What does life want from me?” Listen for the answer and don’t go back to sleep. We are called to give our gifts from a conscious place as we co-create a reality that supports our evolution here on Mother Earth and take our place in the Cosmos.

The Water Protectors at Standing Rock are showing us how to move forward in the consciousness of courage, love and forgiveness. Even while Water Protectors have drawn a line in sand that an oil pipeline endangering their land and water is not acceptable, they do so from a place of prayer. They are a model for nonviolent resistance in the tradition of Ghandi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Let us all stand with Standing Rock for Mother Earth and for the basic human right to clean water.

We are in times of great change and we can direct that change by daily walking our prayer, living and choosing love in every moment.  Now is the time to unite and trust in Creator for when we stand together and move from the heart we cannot lose.

“It is time to speak your Truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leader….

We are the ones we have been waiting for.”                                                                                                                                   Excerpt Excerpt from “Message from the Hopi Elders”
