Cancer New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse- July 12, 2018 at 7:47 pm PDT
We are in the midst of magical change this summer with three powerful eclipses. The first, a New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse which occurs on July 12-13 depending on where you are in the world, is the topic of this article. It is in the watery realm of the Great Mother at Cancer 21 degrees. Because the Moon is the ruler of the sign Cancer this placement is even more powerful. The Moon and Cancer are deeply connected to the Unconditional Love of the Mother who loves us totally just because we are. As we remember that our birthright is love, it opens our heart and allows us to walk in this world as love. The Sabian Symbol for this solar eclipse is “A Prima Donna Singing” which indicates there is an important message that will make us sit up and take notice, so pay attention!
Eclipses block the flow of the energy of the Sun which disrupts the electromagnetic field of the Earth and can instigate turbulent weather. Nothing is normal during the 3 days when the eclipse is at its strongest. When the light of the Sun is blocked it allows for more Cosmic, mysterious and unpredictable energy to enter our atmosphere. The ancients and indigenous people would often stay indoors and pray during eclipses. The effects of the eclipse can be much longer lasting as it can bring unexpected news and events that are life changing. It is often a time of new beginnings as well as endings. Eclipses usually bring to light what that which has been hidden but is now ready to be revealed in our relationships, our life direction as well as deeper levels of self-knowledge and understanding.
Not every eclipse activates our personal charts, so some eclipses can go by without a lot of notice. However, when our natal energy is activated it can be a life changing time. The sign Cancer has to do with affairs of the heart and is a Portal of Divine Love. The Great Mother is asking us to surrender to Her Unconditional Love for when we do great heart healing can happen. With this eclipse that is ruled by the Moon we are being asked to remember what brings happiness to our hearts. We may have heightened emotions, tenderness and sensitivity at this eclipse so make time to nurture our hearts and care for ourselves.
The Moon is also the seat of our intuition which resides in our heart and connected to the inner wisdom of our Higher Selves. This New Moon in Cancer is a time to slow down and so we can hear the truth that lies within our hearts.
Pluto in Capricorn is tightly opposite this New Moon Solar Eclipse bringing in a much different energy. The evolutionary goal of Capricorn is maturity and accountability. Pluto is about making the unconscious conscious, our “shadow” material. At this eclipse we will be shown the hidden material that lies within our unconscious to allow it to come to the light to be healed. When we get triggered and we may find ourselves more triggered during this eclipse time, often the first reaction is to project our feelings onto someone else, making them responsible for how we feel. But this eclipse is challenging us to “own” our feelings. It is usually a place where we are holding some fear or an old hurt. When we can acknowledge the hurt or fear that has been triggered within us, we can let it go and with it an old story around an emotional wound. Pluto is ultimately about self-empowerment and self-love as we able to release whatever fear or hurt no longer serves us.
Pluto in Capricorn opposite the New Moon Solar Eclipse is an aspect of transmutation on a personal and collective level. Capricorn is associated with the patriarchal paradigm in which we have been living for several thousand years. Many atrocities that have been hidden in our world are coming to light such as the high levels of sexual slavery, child trafficking, domestic and sexual violence as well more visible war, poverty and all other forms of treachery. We must hold accountable those who are perpetrators of these actions. However, we must also remember that we are all part of the collective consciousness and thus have a part in creating the world around us. As Alexander Solzenitsyn says, “The battle line between good and evil runs through the heart of every man.”
This eclipse will help us look into our hearts to see what lies there and to see where we might still be choosing fear, hate or judgement over love. It is very easy to succumb to fear especially in the form of divisiveness and/or poverty consciousness as we see so much of that in the world right now. As a large opening occurs for fear which underlies all other dark energies to be liberated, we have been given tools to heal and transmute it into love. It is time to stop feeding our demons and start feeding our hearts. As Dr Martin Luther King says, “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”
There is a beautiful Grand Water Trine (think triangle) between the Sun and Moon in Cancer, Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces creating an easy flow of energy. As the shadow energy of the unconscious rises to the light within and through each of us, we can aid its release through the purifying element of water. Take salt and soda baths, go to the ocean, swim in lakes and rivers and most of all drink lots of water. As we purify and release these dark energies within ourselves and our world, we are more able to have love, compassion and forgiveness for ourselves as well as others. When we can keep our own vibration high it allows more collective healing to happen. It is a true balancing act to hold ourselves and others accountable and then forgive and yet that is what is being asked of us.
At this eclipse, there is also a Grand Earth Trine between Uranus in Taurus, Saturn in Capricorn and Venus/Ceres in Virgo. This offers the gift of the healing energy of Mother Earth. I just recently heard about Vitamin G (Gaia) which is the healing energy of the electromagnetic field of Mother Earth. Walking barefoot on Her is very healing and allows us to recharge and revitalize ourselves by being out in nature on the land Herself. Remember that Gaia is another form of the Great Mother, She is a Cosmic being and at Her core is Love. Being in nature with our feet on the earth is very grounding. It is so important that we stay as centered, grounded and nonreactive as possible during this time when we are transmuting this dark energy through our physical bodies as well as our energetic and emotional fields.
All the planets involved in the eclipse are in feminine, yin signs which indicate this is a time for going within to meditate and connect with our deepest selves. There are four planets retrograde at the time of the eclipse but in the thirty days of this lunar cycle, there will be as many six planets retrograde. This is another strong message to slow down and go within for that is where you will find the truth and guidance you seek. It is a pause and then reset button to align us with our authentic selves and direction in life.
This Partial Solar Eclipse with the Sun and Moon in Cancer is a portal of Divine Love blasting through to fill us with the unconditional love of the Universe to help us meet and transmute the darkness that is rising. We are healing not only our own souls but that of the Anima Mundi, the world soul.
