Winter Solstice, Dec 21, 2014 at 3:04 pm PST,  New Moon in Capricorn  Dec 21, 2014 at 5:37 pm PST

Winter Solstice, when the Sun is reborn is a very powerful time every year. This year it is extra potent due to the Capricorn New Moon falling just a few hours later.  “The rising of the Sun on the Winter Solstice, out of the darkest day of the year, echoes the birth of the light from the dark void on the first day of creation.” www.Belsebuub.com. The Sun is our star, it radiates consciousness and calls us awaken to the light. The light of the Sun will continue to grow until the Summer Solstice.

The Winter Solstice always occurs at 0 degrees of Capricorn in the northern hemisphere & in Western Astrology. There are actually 5 planets in Capricorn at this time, Sun, Moon, Mercury, Pluto & Venus. The asteroid Vesta is also in Capricorn. Capricorn is the sign of the elder, reminding us of the ancient & timeless lessons of respect, integrity, responsibility and inner authority. It is a sign of leadership and achievement. Capricorn has acquired wisdom which is only gained by living. No books can teach this wisdom, only experience. Like a fine wine, Capricorn only improves with age.

Pluto is flushing out the Capricorn shadow. Conformity, following rules & traditions regardless of the cost, giving away one’s power to those in positions of authority and dominance of others are a few of the shadow traits of Capricorn. Pluto in his role as destroyer is showing us the corruption of our leaders, governments & institutions. But it is important to remember the outer world only reflects our inner world. Are there places you have given away your power either through fear or lack of trust in your own inner authority?

Pluto is tightly conjunct Venus in Capricorn. This is a call to the empowerment of the feminine. We cannot come into balance with Mother Earth and the Universe when the feminine is disempowered. Feminine wisdom is sorely needed in the halls of power, the perspective of half of the world’s citizens. In some tribes of the American northeast, the elder women chose the chief and could fire the chief if he was not doing a good job. They also made the decisions about whether or not to do go to war. The voices of elder women, the grandmothers, need to be heard again, they have been silenced for too long.

Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn is in the last degree of Scorpio before he moves into Sagittarius. It is time to look inside to all of the places where we hold the old stories that keep us imprisoned. Let them go and with them the fear and pain those old stories hold.

Uranus in Aries is in a very tight square to several of the Capricorn planets. Uranus goes direct this day which is like the light turning green. This is the planet of awakening, chaos, freedom and revolution. We are being asked to no longer conform to gain approval. Uranus always asks, “How much of your life have you sacrificed to gain approval of others?” Uranus is the morphogenic field where lies the Universal Intelligence, the Divine Mind, also known as intuition. New information is coming in all the time via the morphogenic field, it is our job to plug into that field to birth the new forms that want to be born, in our lives and in our world. Uranus in Aries asks us to have the courage to listen to & act upon our inner guidance. Are you listening? Our intuition is the GPS of the soul, it won’t steer you wrong.

The Winter Solstice, the rebirth of the Sun, our consciousness, is the perfect time to set an intention for the new solar cycle of the coming year. Capricorn & Saturn, its ruling planet are the energies of manifestation here on Earth. We are being asked to become the enlightened leaders of this time, standing in our own authority, listening to our inner guidance. When you are in living in alignment with your own truth is when you truly come alive. Set your intention to really come alive and live fearlessly in the coming year! This is what the world really needs!

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”         Howard Thurman
