Leo New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse- Aug 11, 2018 at 2:57 am PDT
The Sun is our star, the brightest light in the sky and the body of consciousness around which our whole solar system revolves, giving each of us vitality and life. Leo is the sign in which the Sun is at its most powerful. This Solar Eclipse at 19 degrees of Leo is showing the way forward with five points in Leo including the Sun, Moon, Pallas Athena, Mercury and the North Node. This is a partial Solar Eclipse so only a portion of the light of the Sun is blocked by the Moon. Nor is it visible in the US. Even though this is a partial eclipse, allowing for cosmic energy to bypass only a portion of the Sun’s light, the energy of Leo is still very strong. This eclipse occurs in the time of the Lionsgate Portal (August 8th each year) which is a gateway not only to our Sun but to the stars Sirius and the Great Central Sun, Alcyone. From this portal flows intense light waves. As we open our hearts we can receive these pulsating waves of cosmic love and remember that we come from the light.
A North Node Solar Eclipse is a surge of powerful energy that can either boost us forward with a strong sense of purpose or can accelerate a situation that needs to end. It can be a time of beginnings and endings, places where we have come full circle and are shown whether to continue this path or let something in our lives go or change direction. Wherever we are in our lives, this eclipse can intensify the energy as it urges us toward our soul’s purpose.
During any eclipse, new or unknown information can come to light that can change everything. We are seeing much come to light in the political arena here is the USA as the veil is pulled back revealing how deep the corruption really lies. There is much more to come. The eclipse energy usually lasts 18 days before and after the eclipse but the effects can last up to a year.
The evolutionary goal of Leo is to let our light shine! We each wear a unique face of Creator in this life bringing gifts that only we have. This is not necessarily about what we do but who we are. This eclipse may open doors to a deeper understanding of who we truly are and the gifts we bring. Richard Rudd in his book “The Gene Keys” says our DNA are molecules of light that have been concealed by fear. If we can release that fear our soul awakens and the dormant DNA, or the language of light, is activated.
Alberto Villoldo, author, anthropologist and shaman says, “All our old models are being reinvented, in every facet of society. Through this great transformation, a new human is emerging on the earth. I call this new human homo luminous. The shaman understands that evolution happens within generations. It is for us to take that quantum leap into who we are becoming. We can become homo luminous in our lifetime.” We are being asked to stand fully in our own radiance and light and let that light shine out into the dark places of our world.
Jupiter in Scorpio is in a challenging aspect to all the planets in Leo at this Solar Eclipse. We are being summoned to release old stories that are based on faulty belief systems, beliefs that were created in fear. These beliefs may have told us that is it dangerous to be seen for who we really. For as Marianne Williamson says, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us.”
As we let the light of Creator shine through us we will discover it helps no one to keep ourselves small. We are at a point in time where each of us must follow the truth of our inner selves even when we are scared. The fire of the Sun in Leo can burn away all that is not authentically ourselves or that is no longer serving us, such as old emotional baggage and energetic patterns. It is about great healing and transformation that invites us to become our most empowered selves for that is what the world needs now. The purification has begun, not only for each of us but for Mother Earth as well in these times of great earth changes and wildly turbulent weather.
The world seems to be in chaos. Many people are having a really difficult time right now making it even harder to keep our hearts open to the feeling of vulnerability but that’s what we must do. The more we can feel and continue to love, even through our hurts and sorrows, the more we can forgive. The more we can open our hearts to the beings we share this planet with, the greater chance we have to create a better world for ourselves and each other. Pallas Athena is an asteroid named after the powerful Greek Goddess Athena. She is a Goddess who never really left our consciousness as most people have heard of her and she has a whole city dedicated to her, Athens, Greece. She is a Warrior Goddess who knows how to win without war as she understands strategy and is known as the Goddess of Wisdom. Athena was a Goddess of Women until the patriarchal shift when her story was co-opted and changed for political reasons.
Astrologically, Pallas Athena symbolizes powerful women who remember their feminine wisdom of intellect, intuition and instinct. With Athena so strong at this eclipse it is telling us that it is time for women to no longer be small. This eclipse may indicate a time when more women are taking their place in seats of power because we so need the feminine perspective in order to bring our world back into balance. As I write this article, 173 women have won primaries for Congressional Seats or governorships for the Mid-term elections. This is no accident. Athena is calling women to stand in their light and lead.
There are six planets retrograde at this Solar Eclipse reminding us that we may have gotten ahead of ourselves. With so much change and chaos in the world, it is important to take time to slow down and reflect upon where we are in our lives and where we are headed. Most importantly though is the need to connect with Mother Earth to ground and center ourselves. We may have gotten out of alignment with our inner truth and deepest selves. Taking the time for contemplation, meditation and prayer, realigning with Creator and our Higher Selves is necessary in retrograde times, especially to re-assess our next steps.
Mercury in Leo is one of the retrograde planets that is also conjunct this Solar Eclipse, inviting each of us to access deep levels of creative self-expression. Take time to do art, play, dance, write or whatever creates happiness and brings joy for that is also at the heart of this eclipse. Leo reminds us that play is sacred and laughter heals the heart.
One of the main teachings of Leo is to celebrate life and find moments of joy because they not only heal but raise our vibration. To be moved by a beautiful piece of music or a sunset, to laugh at your silly cat, to play with your child, these moments of joy are what lift us up. Savor these joyful moments and know that even in difficult times those precious memories can comfort and heal us. As Joseph Campbell says, “Find a place inside where there is joy and the joy will burn out the pain.” When we have joy in our hearts our inner light and true essence will shine brightly as we remember we come from the light. This is how we navigate these challenging times of change.
