Aquarius New Moon, Feb 4, 2019 at 1:04 pm PST
Once again, the New Moon at 15 degrees, 45 minutes of Aquarius is landing on a very powerful energetic degree in the Zodiac. In earlier articles, I have shared that 15 degrees of the fixed signs are what is called cross quarter points, the exact mid-point between the Solstices and the Equinoxes. This one in the Celtic Wheel of the Year is called Imbolc and is a return of the light. It is a time of visioning for the future which is appropriate for the visionary sign of Aquarius.
I recently heard some prophecies from indigenous people who say Mother Earth is moving into higher dimensions and that we are moving with Her. We are moving into times where communities based in peace, justice and love are not only possible but are coming according to the prophecy. We are not there yet and are currently in some pretty choppy waters. How do we navigate these waters while holding on to the vision?
At this New Moon, the Sun, Moon, and Mercury are closely aligned in Aquarius. The archetype for Aquarius is the “Water Bearer” which symbolizes the pouring of the “Waters of Universal Wisdom” on humanity. It can be compared to a baptism into spiritual life. The glyph for Aquarius is the universal symbol for water but it also appears to resemble waves of electricity which travel through the air and Aquarius is actually an air sign.
Aquarius can be very objective and scientific as well as warm hearted and kind. Aquarius is a contradiction within itself and thus very misunderstood by others. One of the major teachings of Aquarius is “To thine own self be true” because no one really knows you but yourself. We know what is true for each of us in our hearts and we must hold onto that truth. Uranus, the ruling planet of Aquarius, is the door between our waking conscious mind and our unconscious. Uranus symbolizes our intuition helping us to awaken to our true Self, our inner Divinity. Aquarius and Uranus challenge us, as it says at the temple of Apollo at Delphi, to “Know thyself and thou will know the Universe and God.” This is the wisdom of Aquarius and Uranus, to bring to awareness the Divine Spark that lives within each of us and our connection to the Universe.
Aquarius is the sign of the visionary, the revolutionary and the iconoclast. It is the rule breaker and often swims against the current of societal norms and thoughts, bringing progress and change. We are currently leaving the Ages of Pisces and entering into the Age of Aquarius. As we move in that direction, know the conditioning of the past needs to be released to be able to move forward. New ideas are flooding our consciousness and there are many ideas and movements whose time has come and that are now at the tipping point. As we navigate this turbulence it does seem as though we are swimming against the current, but the shift will come for those ideas and movements that are ripe. Hold the vision of what can be as doing so will propel us forward.
Uranus is in Aries now, conjunct Mars and the dwarf planet Eris. Aries, Mars and Eris are all aspects of the warrior energy. Transiting Uranus can bring freedom, breakthrough, and unpredictability into the mix. It will take the courage of the warrior to hold on to the vision and fight for what we know to be true in the midst of so much instability. This is a very volatile time when anything can happen but remember that it is out of chaos that new worlds are born.
The ancient ruler of Aquarius is Saturn who is now conjunct Pluto in Capricorn. The solar eclipse of January 2019 was conjunct Saturn and Pluto as bookends on either side. The exact conjunction will not take place until 2020 but it seems to me this eclipse was the initiation of this energy for the next two years and January has already been quite a ride. Saturn is very powerful in Capricorn whose teachings are those of maturity, accountability, integrity and wisdom. Saturn can also trigger the places where we hold fear and can activate our control issues.
Pluto symbolizes death, transformation and rebirth while making the unconscious conscious. In Capricorn Pluto brings a deep soul healing around wounds related to conditioning from the past and emotional maturity. Pluto activates healing in the emotional body, showing us where we need to feel our way through. The Saturn/Pluto conjunction demands deep inner work that brings us into alignment with our own integrity and inner truth. It shows where we need to be emotionally honest with ourselves and others.
Capricorn symbolizes authority figures, government, corporations, political and financial institutions. The Saturn/Pluto conjunction is lifting the veil and digging deep into these basic structures of the foundations of our civilization, exposing the deep corruption. It is time to acknowledge the truth of what they have become. As we do, we can make different choices. Saturn/Pluto in Capricorn can be about reclaiming our personal authority and power individually and collectively. We can only do that if we are willing to look at the truth and do the necessary healing.
The Mars/Eris conjunction is square Pluto which can indicate a power struggle brewing, between the old and the new, the powerful and the powerless. Pluto brings up issues of power and the potential for its abuse. This is a very volatile aspect. We may see some fireworks especially if we come up against someone who wants something different than what we want. It can also be a powerful motivator that moves us to go for what we really want. However, for success our will needs to be in alignment with Divine Will as Mars and Pluto teach us about how we use our will. Regardless, this aspect is one of change. Change is coming and it can be either a bumpy or a smooth ride because change can trigger fear of the unknown. “Change is never painful. Only resistance to change is painful.” Buddha.
Another important aspect that is connected to this New Moon and is in effect for most of the year is a Jupiter/Neptune square. Jupiter opens doors, brings opportunity and questions how much we really believe in ourselves. Neptune is the part of us that dissolves the ego so we can become part of something bigger than ourselves. Neptune is aligned with the Unconditional Love of the Cosmos. There are doors opening to that Love that go right through our hearts and compassion is the key. It is through this door that the Light comes in and we connect to all beings.
The shadow side of Neptune has to do with illusion, deceit, and delusion; where we see what we want to see. Beware of “gaslighting,” that is, being manipulated so that we doubt what we see with our eyes and know in our hearts to be true. We can also deceive ourselves. Both can lead us down a false path. It is important in these times to slow down, meditate and connect with our intuition which lies in the heart and where the truth resides. “That which is false troubles the heart, but truth brings joyous tranquility.” Rumi
As Mother Earth moves into higher dimensions, it is important that we have a deep and strong connection to Her. The alignment between the Light and Mother Earth is going directly through us and connects in the heart. This alignment is what will anchor us in the midst of change while we give birth to new realities. The clearer the channel, the stronger the anchor and the anchor is Love. Hold the Vision of peace, justice and love for our world!
