Leo New Moon- July 23, 2017 at 2:46 am PDT
The Sun is calling us to step into the Light at this New Moon at 1 degree of Leo. Leo is ruled by and closely associated with the energy of the Sun, the primary life force in this solar system. Astrologically, the Sun represents our personal life force, vitality, will to live and life purpose. I just recently heard a good definition of the astrological Sun as life force that has materialized and is expressing as each of us. We have materialized with a life purpose and destiny which is up for review for each of us at this New Moon. We are the Creators of our own lives and it is time to remember who we really are.
Mars at 2 degrees of Leo is tightly conjunct this New Moon integrating the archetype of the Warrior and the planet of action with its energy. Mars has a lot to do with personal will, what we want or our desire nature. Aligned with the Sun and Moon in Leo, it feels as though Mars is being re-energized and renewed with Divine Purpose and life force. We are being asked to align our personal will with Divine Will. As we do, we become more self-empowered and the way forward to actualize our life purpose becomes clearer. We align with Divine Will by going within and listening to our heart-knowing. Our heart always knows the way; we just don’t always want to listen for it may not be what our small ego-self wants or may be too scary. When we align with Divine Will we are aligning with our own Higher Self and the love that resides at the center of the Cosmos.
Uranus in Aries is in an out-of-sign square to this New Moon/Mars conjunction. This can indicate that synchronicities will abound and we will be touched by forces of the unseen. A good definition of synchronicity or meaningful coincidences is “a phenomenon where an event in the outside world coincides meaningfully with a psychological state of mind.” Another good way to look at it is “Synchronicity happens when you align with the Universe rather than insisting the Universe flow your way.” The Universe is giving us clues all the time as to how we are being guided to align with Divine Will, our job is to pay attention.
Another feature of the square between Uranus, the New Moon and Mars is that it is very high energy which can be difficult to manage. It is important to stay conscious and non-reactive as accidents and aggression can occur when we go unconscious. It can be a volatile time so it is important to find good outlets for this energy such as exercise, gardening or dancing, actually anything really physical is helpful as the life force is moving through us very strongly.
Leo is the archetype of the Divine Child and brings with it the concept of Sacred Play and joy. Whatever makes us laugh or feel pleasure, even if it is momentary, is vital to our health and well-being. We are being asked to follow our joy or as Rumi says, “Respond to every call that excites your Spirit!” Some examples might be creative endeavors, sexual activity, gardening, dancing, singing, helping others, healing or counseling, metaphysical or spiritual pursuits, athletics and even playing cards or other games. Make time to play or whatever feels like play. It is not a luxury; it is vital to our life force.
Joy increases our life force as well as expands and builds our Lightbodies. “The Lightbody is a gridwork of light and sacred geometry that brings together your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual being. It is preparing us for both the Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius on Aug 7th and the Solar Eclipse in Leo on August 21st, the 2nd New Moon in Leo this year.
At the total Solar Eclipse in Leo on August 21st, the light of the Sun is blocked for a short time. During this time the electromagnetic field of the Earth is disrupted as the flow of light from the Sun is interrupted; nothing is normal. It allows for old entrenched patterns to be released and Cosmic energy to flow in which affects our energetic field, allowing for change and awakening. At that time our Lightbodies will be activated with a potential to reorganize our molecular structures. This can enable us to connect with the Source of the Universe more easily. This New Moon is preparing us for a shift in consciousness that will be anchoring the Love of the Cosmos here on Mother Earth in our Light-bodies.
This is not saying that life is without challenges. I recently heard Rick Tarnas, an astrologer and professor at CIIS, say the we are going “through the Eye of the Needle.” All old emotional baggage and patterns are coming up for review to be released, personally and collectively. Times may seem dark and full of chaos but we are being shown the way through. Many are crossing over to help us from the other side. I have heard that the whole Universe is here to help us make this shift in consciousness. These eclipses in the Leo/Aquarius axis over the next 18 months will help us make this shift if we understand their message.
Finally, the North Node (which indicates the way forward) in Leo is conjunct Mercury, Messenger of the Gods and the asteroid Apollo, the God of Light. Apollo is the light that comes from the Sun, that energy that gives life to all and illuminates our way. It seems to me the way forward is to follow our joy, to step into our own light and let it shine into the darkness of our world. Our world will remain in darkness if we are afraid to shine our light. Remember, our Sun is really a Star, our star of consciousness that is part of a larger galaxy of consciousness which we are on brink of discovering within ourselves, for we are made of the stars.
