New Moon in Libra- Sept 23, 2014 at 11:12 pm PDT, Autumnal Equinox, Sept 22, 2014 at 7:30 PDT
This New Moon takes place at 2 degrees of Libra which is in the center of the Super Galactic Center. The SGC is said to deeply connect us with the ‘Mind of God.” The Sabian Symbol for this degree of the zodiac is, “The Light of the Sixth Race Transmuted to the Seventh.” This speaks of leaps in consciousness. Through the gifts of Libra we are being given this opportunity to evolve.
This New Moon is closely aligned with the Autumnal Equinox when the Sun enters Libra. This is the time of year when the light & dark are in balance but the light of the Sun begins to wane. We will be entering into the darker part of the year and more deeply into ourselves. It is a time of harvest and deep gratitude for all of the blessings in our lives. The Equinox is an energy vortex which allows us to come into balance within ourselves and with our world.
On the eve of the Autumn Equinox, the “People’s Climate March” took place all over the world with concerns of environmental, economic & social injustice. Mother Earth is speaking clearly to us about how out of balance we are in our relationship to Her and within ourselves. We must open our deaf ears of indifference & listen. It is time to listen with our hearts!
One of the primary gifts of Libra is peace. We all want peace in the world but to attain this we need to have peace within ourselves. We must be the peace to have the peace. Libra becomes imbalanced when there is unresolved conflict and there is much conflict in our world. One way to achieve inner peace and resolve conflict is listening from the heart. Impulses from the heart come from stillness, the place of the inner witness.
We must be fully present and centered to hear what our hearts are telling us. The old saying, “I know truth when I hear it” is about listening from the heart. We know real truth by feeling it. We feel peaceful when we are in alignment with our inner guidance. But it is a choice, we often only hear the noise of fear. Listening with our heart requires courage and honesty.
When we are listening with our hearts, we can then really hear others. Not just their words, but what is in their hearts. This is the Libra gift of empathy.
Empathy is feeling the pain of another by entering into their heart, only then can we heal the world in which we live. Everyone has suffering in their lives, whether it is your loved ones or those that live across the world in another country. Through empathy we enter into the heart of all beings and are then able to transcend suffering & transform our world.
Libra is the energy that teaches us about relationships and how to make relations, not just with other humans but with all beings. It is a matter of respect, gratitude and listening with the heart, reminding us that we are all connected.
In honor of the indigenous peoples of the world who are leading the ‘People’s Climate March” and sharing their wisdom of creating right relations with Mother Earth and all beings, I offer this Lakota Prayer. It is encapsulated in Lakota language as one phrase but I heard a longer version from a young Lakota man and this is that prayer. May these word of deep truth guide us into our own hearts & the heart of all beings creating a deep connection with the Heart of the Mother.
